’86 560 SLThis Mercedes Benz 560 SL from the R107 generation was the version with the biggest factory displacement and meant for US, Canada, Australia and Japanese market. This very car has driven just 64.000 km / 39k miles and is one of the best documented vintage cars i’ve seen. Canadian market cars have the Euro headlights and Kilometers odometer from new. Countless receipts, invoices, information is present from 1986 to now. The original invoice is present, Miss Narwani from Ontario ordered her Arctic white 560 SL at Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc. on may 27th of 1986 for a price of 63.807,30 Canadian Dollar. The original German registration is present, the confirmation of shipping the car from Bremen to Halifax is present as well. The car comes with the full set of manuals, 4 keys, brochures and ofcourse the service book and Datacard. Serviced by Mercedes of Ontario. Both the first and the 2nd owner worked for Marshall Field’s – now known as Macy’s. Since the year 2000 the car moved to London, her colleague now owned the car. Every single receipt is present, well over 80 pages. Since the 2010’s the car lived in the South of France. Now the car is available with us in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands.
64.000 very very well documented kilometers. What we found is a very original and correct car. We gave our workshop carte blanche and we did a lot of work on the car. Roughly €21.500 Euro’s have been invested. A major service on the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, convertible top and wheels. More on that below. A Canadian-Spec 560 SL came with European headlights and kilometers odometer from the factory. We have recently converted the car to European bumpers with a new set of chrome bumpers + the bodywork and paintwork. The car looks great. Nice clear headligths and taillights. Very good brightwork and trim. The condition of the undercarraige is amazing. Very clean, all original metal and rust-free of course. Our upholsterer has replaced the softtop for a brand new part. Looks great, the frame is clean and it opens and folds as should. The original white hardtop is present as well.
The interior is beautiful: a beautiful dashboard without cracks and without dash-cover – a welcome surprise. Nice and clean carpets, original Mercedes leather and all switchgear is working and in good condition. The wood on the center console is in good condition. The A/C blows cold and the heated seats work. The wheels are the timelessly beautiful 15-hole Mercedes alloys. We had them repainted and fitted a set of new Kumho tires.
The level of documentation is amazing. From the order sheet from 1986 through the 90’s, 00’s, 10’s and 20’s. Everything is present. 4 original keys, the cruise control waver, radio instruction card, climate control waver and 1986 Mercedes-Benz brochure. A stamped service book and with Datacard.
In our workshop we have done a major service. A 5 page internal invoice is present. 21.500 euro and 58 hours of labour. In short.
