De 850CSi

BMW introduceerde in de jaren 90 de 8-serie (E31) om het topsegment van de luxe GT markt te bedienen. Het model werd gepositioneerd om het comfort van een grote luxe coupé te combineren met de hoogste prestaties in huis en de meest geavanceerde techniek beschikbaar destijds. De 850CSi werd in 1992 gebracht als sportief gezien het topmodel die ontwikkeld werd door de BMW M GmbH – te herkennen aan het chassisnummer beginnend ‘WBS’ in plaats van ‘WBA’.

Collectible

Van de BMW 850CSi zijn in een productieperiode van vier jaar tijd, slechts 1510 exemplaren gebouwd; wat de exclusiviteit van deze auto benadrukt en verklaart waarom dit model nu zo’n begeerlijke verzamelaarsauto is. Dit exemplaar is helemaal uitzonderlijk aangezien die op alle gebieden in nieuwstaat is gebracht en daar is op geen enkele manier op bezuinigd. De auto is initieel in Italië geleverd waar de auto in bezit is geweest tot aan drie jaar geleden waarna de auto naar Nederland is gekomen. De tweede eigenaar is de huidige eigenaar die de restauratie tot aan perfectie heeft volbracht. Alles is zeer goed gedocumenteerd.

Technische hoogstand

De BMW 850CSi is uitgerust met de 5,6 liter V12 motor, het S70B56 motorblok die later ook gebruikt zou worden voor de McLaren F1. De motor heeft een output van 380pk en 550Nm aan koppel, wat natuurlijk indrukwekkende prestaties waren in de vroege jaren 90. Verder was de 850CSi het model waarop BMW hun Aktive Hinterachs-Kinematik techniek uitbracht, dit is een achterasbesturingssysteem waarbij de achterwielen tot aan een lichte hoek meedraaien voor extra wendbaarheid.

Calypso Red

Deze BMW 850CSi is uitgevoerd in het prachtige Calypsorot kleurcode 252 wat een waanzinnige effect geeft op zonlicht. Het interieur is in het luxueuze Nappa leder in zwart en de wielen zijn de originele 17 inch ‘Throwing Star’ lichtmetalen velgen die specifiek aan de CSi toebehoren. Verder zijn de ruiten UV-geslepen smaragdtint.

The BMW 850CSi

In the 1990s, BMW introduced the 8 Series (E31) to serve the top segment of the luxury GT market. The model was positioned to combine the comfort of a large luxury coupé with top-level performance and the most advanced technology available at the time. The 850CSi was introduced in 1992 as, in terms of sportiness, the top model, developed by BMW M GmbH – recognizable by the chassis number starting with ‘WBS’ instead of ‘WBA’.

Collectible

Only 1,510 units of the BMW 850CSi were built over a four-year production period, emphasizing the exclusivity of this car and explaining why this model is now such a highly desirable collector’s item. This particular example is truly exceptional, having been brought to like-new condition in every aspect, with no expense spared. The car was originally delivered in Italy, where it remained until three years ago before being brought to the Netherlands. The second and current owner completed the restoration to perfection. Everything is very well documented.

Technical marvel

The BMW 850CSi is equipped with the 5.6-liter V12 engine, the S70B56 engine block, which would later also be used in the McLaren F1. The engine produces 380 hp and 550 Nm of torque – impressive performance in the early 1990s. Furthermore, the 850CSi was the model on which BMW introduced its Aktive Hinterachs-Kinematik technology, a rear-axle steering system where the rear wheels turn slightly for added agility.

Calypso Red

This BMW 850CSi is finished in the stunning Calypsorot color, code 252, which creates a spectacular effect in sunlight. The interior features luxurious black Nappa leather, and the wheels are the original 17-inch ‘Throwing Star’ alloy wheels, specific to the CSi. Furthermore, the windows are UV-cut in emerald tint.
