When it was unveiled in 1992, it was the highest-displacement production Ferrari to date, with just under 5.5 liters: We're talking about the 456 GT. Three years after production of the Ferrari 412 was discontinued, it was high time for a new touring Gran Turismo under the sign of the prancing horse. A completely redesigned V12 with a 65-degree cylinder angle and a new chassis with a front-engine transaxle layout later formed the basis, with modifications, for the remaining 12-cylinder models. Here in 2+2 seater form in a very successful Pininfarina design that borrowed in detail from Ferrari history, such as the Daytona. In terms of workmanship and the feel of the interior, the 456 GT was a quantum leap for Ferrari and thus also pointed the way to the future. A spoiler under the rear apron changed its position depending on speed. The hardness of the suspension could be adjusted three times at the touch of a button. The model designation "456" was derived by from the displacement of the individual cylinders in cc.
